I made a recent purchase after hearing so much about this product. Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation is a cult product. Everyone, I mean everyone talks about this. I was in Fenicks in London and couldn’t walk past the counter. After being colour matched I skipped out of the store a happier human being.
So top marks for the ladies on the counter in Fenicks they were friendly and helpful. They shade matched me really well also. I was worried that because of the lighting in the store that maybe the colour match would be a bit off. I have had this happen to me once before in Selfridges with a Dior foundation. It all ended up okay because it turned out to be my perfect summer shade but this is always something to be wary of. Make sure that you look in a mirror and in natural light as well to make sure that you have the shade you want because this product is not cheap. You want the shade to be right and not have to go back for another bottle.
As you might expect, the packaging was luxurious. This was everything that I wanted it to be and more. It is a simple packing but so sophisticated. It has a pump that comes with it which I would expect when spending this much on a foundation. On the lid, there is a little Giorgio Armani symbol which I think ties the whole thing together really nicely.
As the name may suggest this is a very luminous foundation. You can almost tell this when it is in the bottle. It is by no means shiny or chunky but is ‘dewy’. You can definitely tell this the minute you pump it out. This is not a full coverage foundation but it is on the light to medium side. I have been able to build it up to have more coverage without it looking cakey. This is not incredibly thick like you would expect from a full coverage foundation, however, isn’t watery either. I would say that it is somewhere in the middle. I am not a fan of very thick foundations or very watery foundations either. For me, this is perfect. If you want something that is somewhere in the middle that could easily be built up for a night time look this is your guy.
On the skin
I pump this foundation onto my beauty blender then blend onto the skin. From the first bounce of the beauty blender I knew that I was in love. This is the most beautiful foundation on the skin it is luminous but not greasy. It just gives you a lovely dewy look. It looks very natural and skin; which I love. I have been enjoying wearing this with cream highlight. Which gives a lovely summery ‘glow from within’ look. Honestly, I am just in love. I do have slightly oily skin but not to a point where I look ridiculously greasy at the end of the day. If oil control is something that you do struggle with then maybe this is not the foundation for you but if you do still want to give it a try you could try it with a primer to aid oil control or just add powder on top.
I hope that you enjoyed this post. I loved testing out this foundation. Part of me hoped that I wouldn’t love this so that I wouldn’t want to buy it again but unfortunately, and not unsurprisingly, it is my favourite foundation that I have ever tried. Yes, I have tried quite a few in my time so this is a lofty statement.
