Holy Grail: Primers

Holy Grail: Primers

I can’t decide if this week has gone really quickly or really slowly but what I do know, is that all the days have merged into one. Exams start next week – crap!

Anyway, this week’s instalment of our Holy Grail series is our top 3 primers. Let us know if you’ve tried any of them or if you have a favourite we haven’t mentioned.

BeautyPie Bio-Infusion Breathable Primer

The first thing that hits you about this primer is the smell. It has quite a strong smell of coconut. Which at first I didn’t love but now it has grown on me. This is a moisturising primer so doesn’t fill in any pores but does make a really great base for foundation. It makes a real change from the more silicone based primers. This product was not expensive at all and if you are looking to try out different kinds of makeup I would highly recommend beauty pie. To put this on I massage it in with my hands then go in with my beauty blender with whatever foundation I am wearing that day.

Too Faced HangoverX Primer

Ever since purchasing this product, it’s been my favourite. It feels really moisturising and smells like coconut; which I love. It leaves the skin feeling slightly tacky after application which I like because it makes me feel like my foundation is going to sit well on top. The applicator is also really good because it gives you the perfect amount of product that you need to cover your whole face. Also, a massive fan of the packaging because it’s classy but fun at the same time and is also really good for travelling. I apply this using my hands because I feel a brush or a sponge would soak up a lot of the product and waste it.

Cover FX Custom Blot Drops

I’ve included this product in the primer section of our Holy Grail series because, technically, it is. However, I use this after I’ve applied all my makeup because that’s how I find it to be most effective. If you’re a regular reader of our posts you will know I have oily skin and it drives me crazy, and this product really helps to keep that grease-ball nose at bay.

The applicator is a dropper and whilst this isn’t my favourite, it does allow you to dispense the perfect amount of product that you need. I like to apply it to the back of my hand and then take a wet beauty sponge and bounce it over the areas that I find get super shiny throughout the day. The product itself looks quite… dodgy in colour, texture and consistency but if you can get past that, it’s a really great product. (You’ll know what I mean if you’ve tried it!) I have also tried mixing it in with my foundation as well as applying it before makeup and both methods work too, it’s just applying after makeup is my favourite.

I’ve had this product for quite a while now and it appears to be lasting a really long time which is great – good value for your money.

Thanks for reading, we hope you enjoyed. Lots of love,
