Get Ready with Me: Spring 2017

Hello! So I thought I’d share with you how I got ready today in photograph form. I’ve seen a lot of these on the internet and put a ‘blog’ spin on it. Hope you enjoy!

Everyone’s day, whether you’re a makeup wearer or not, should always start with skincare. It’s super important to make sure your skin has a good start to the day and is left feeling nourished and moisturised. At the moment I am trying out the Neutrogena Water Gel face cream after I’ve applied a couple of drops of my Bobbi Brown Remedy. I’m really trying to focus on hydrating my skin at the moment in the hope that I will be able to balance out the oils that it produces over the course of the day. So far, success!

For makeup today I wanted a pretty ‘everyday’ look. I kept everything simple and was happy with the outcome. I’m currently trialling the BeautyPie Great Skin foundation, liking it so far. I have been mixing a drop of my Custom Blot Drops from Cover FX into the foundation to again, try and keep my oily nose at bay. I’ve been loving the HangoverX primer from Too Faced, it’s a great base for makeup to sit on top of. I am a massive fan of the MAC Pro Longwear Concealer (see it in our Holy Grail series HERE) as it has a really full coverage whilst lasting all day. I use the Laura Mercier translucent powder underneath my eyes and around my nose and then the BeautyPie face powder on the rest of my face. The BeautyPie powder is another new discovery for me and so far, I’m really liking it. The Laura Mercier powder is brilliant too, leaves the under-eye area looking so smooth and blurs any pores.

Once my base is set, I then go in with powder products. I used the Hoola Lite on the perimeter of my face and then the original Hoola underneath my cheekbones for a bit of definition. The Benefit Cheek Parade palette was such a good buy because it means you can do almost your whole face with one item. Review of that coming soon! From the Cheek Parade, I also used Rockateur on the apples of my cheeks. On the tops of my cheekbones, I used the BeautyPie highlighter which gives a nice natural glow.

For my brows, I use the BeautyPie brow pencil which is just like the Anastasia Brow Wiz just cheaper. I set them with a cheap clear brow gel. This is one item I haven’t yet found a favourite in and so if anyone has any recommendations, please let me know!

For my eyes, I kept things simple with a few matte shadows from the Urban Decay Ultimate Naked Basics palette. Find my review of the palette here! I like to keep my lid pretty plain and then build up different shadows in the crease for definition. I also take these colours underneath the eye too. To frame the eyes, I do a thin line of liquid liner along the top lashline and then run the gel-pencil liner along the bottom waterline.

To finish my eyes I use my MaxFactor mascara on the top lashes and then MAC Gigablack Lash on the bottom lashes. I do this because the MAC formula is super waterproof and I have really watery eyes so it’s a must for me.

To finish the look, I used a L’Oréal lipstick in 603. This is one of my favourites because it’s more neutral tone and gives that ‘your lips but better’ colour.

I washed my hair this morning so it needed drying before I styled it. I smoothed through a pump of Moroccan Oil into the ends of my hair, spritzed it with the Aussie leave-in conditioner and blow dried it. I then ran my GHD Curling tong through it. If you are interested in how I curl my hair, take a look at my tutorial post here. I use the GHD style spray through the sections of my hair to make the curls last and then when I’ve curled them, I spray a small amount of hairspray through it to again, make the curls wear for longer.

To finish off, I spritz myself with perfume. One of my favourites the moment is Femme from Zara. It lasts well all day and is the closest to perfect scent that I’ve found so far. I also like to rub a bit of the Elizabeth Arden 8hr Hand Cream into my hands to leave them feeling super soft and hydrated. And that’s it, here’s the finished look.

So there we have it! This is quite a typical look for me and whilst I switch products in and out to try new things, the look usually stays pretty similar.

I hope you enjoyed and would love to hear whether you’ve tried any of the products I’ve mentioned.

Thanks for reading,
