Last weekend we went shopping (yes, we braved the shopping mall on a Saturday… don’t even!) and spent far too much money, so thought we’d share with you what we bought.
Elizabeth Arden ‘8hr Beauty Must Haves’ Skincare Gift Set
If you’ve read my beauty wish list, you will know that I’ve had my eye on the Lip balm for a while and I’ve also wanted to repurchase the original 8hr cream for years. My mum and I used to use it for everything and I had kind of forgotten how much I loved it until the smell of my hand cream (which I got for Christmas) had reminded me. This set is amazing value as the original 8hr cream is £27 on its own and the set is £27.50. Within the set you get a full-size original 8hr cream and the lip balm in a tin, as well as a travel of the hand cream (perfect for the handbag) and a deluxe sample of the Miracle Oil. Loving all the products so far so was definitely a smart purchase.
Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate
Another item that was on my beauty wish list (read that post here) and so when we were in town I decided to just bite the bullet and buy it (Hannah persuaded me!!). I had the most amazing consultation from the woman who was working in the shop; she tested my skin type, gave me a brief overview of what kinds of products would benefit my skin and then did the ultimate sale of Kiehl’s product and made me want to buy them all – my wish list gets one item shorter and about 4 items longer! She also gave me some samples of the products she recommended so I will almost definitely be back! Totally in love with the smell of the product and whilst it’s an oil, it’s not very… oily. Perfect.
Real Techniques Bold Metals 100 Arched Powder Brush
I’ve had my eye on this brush for ages but it was either never in stock or I didn’t have the courage to just buy it. As we can tell from this haul, Hannah and I were both in the spending mood so I had no doubts this time! The texture of the bristles is so so lovely, they’re super soft and really nicely packed – not too dense but not too fine. I plan on using this as a bronzer brush so that I don’t have to keep using my powder brush for both.
Burt’s Bees Radiance Eye Cream
I’ve been looking for an eye cream for ages and didn’t really want to buy a cheap one for it to not work and be totally pointless but I also didn’t want to spend loads of money on a tiny pot of cream that is used on the smallest area of my face. I have come to notice that most eye creams on the market target anti-aging or wrinkles and whilst I know that it’s important to start all that malarkey early, I think 19 may be taking the mick. This is what drew me to the Burt’s Bees one, it’s made with natural ingredients (royal jelly is one of the main ingredients) and is for radiance which will help to liven up my dark under eye area whilst keeping me looking youthful. This product usually retails for just under £20 and I’m not sure I would have paid that but Boots had a sale on a line of the Burt’s Bees product so I decided to snatch this one up! Really like the texture so far and will report any progress either on here or on Instagram!
Sukin Facial Moisturiser
Whilst browsing through the skin care aisle in Boots, I came across this brand that I’d never seen before and, like Burt’s Bees, had a reduced line which enticed me to try out their products. I haven’t ever seen this brand in Boots before (and I’m in there a lot!) so I’m pretty sure it’s relatively new. I have done a bit of research online and it appears to be an American brand. I’ve been looking for a lighter moisturiser to use during the day, just before I put my makeup on. I know it sounds stupid but the packaging of this line really drew me in. Initial reactions are that it doesn’t smell the nicest and I’m not sure it’s making a whole lot of difference to my skin however it is a nice base for my makeup to sit on. The packaging is an odd one, the pump is super handy as it keeps the product fresh and stops you from putting your hands in a jar again and again but it just seems to dispose a lot of product, far too much for your face at once. Will keep trying and keep you posted.
Real Techniques Your Picks Berlin Collection Brush Set
I’m pretty sure this was a limited edition collection that was left over from Christmas because I’ve seen it in Boots for quite a while now and you can’t seem to get it on Boots Online anymore so I snapped it up. I had been looking at it and wanting it for a while. So I decided that now was the time. I wanted it mostly for the contour brush, which is small and super soft, to set my under eyes as I had been using a slightly larger contour brush which just want right for me. I love Real Techniques brushes because for their price they are such high quality. In the set you also get a large crease brush, base shadow brush, stippling brush and buffing brush all of which I love and use pretty much on a daily basis. The large crease brush it actually really quite big and took some getting used to, but has such a nice effect when you want quite a blended crease.
Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette
So, there was a lot of hype about this palette a while ago and I didn’t buy into it then in case it was a fad but I kept hearing hype. So, once again I gave in. First off the smell. It does really smell like chocolate. So for me that was enough. The shadows could have been chalky, have powered kick up and no pigment and I would still love the palette just because of the smell. However, the shadows too are perfect, I love the formula as they don’t kick up any powder. Unlike the naked palette which has a powder kick up when you put your brush in. The selection of colours is also amazing because they are all very me colours. Nude browns, that’s just me. There are just so many options with this palette because you can make a beautiful day look and then if you are going out at night you can just smoke it out with some of the darker colours in there.
Nip+Fab Bee Sting Fix Eye Cream
This product and the product below were an impulse purchase, they were on offer and I like Nip+Fab I have used this product in a tub not a tube but I didn’t like applying it like that so I was keen to try this. I honestly haven’t actually used this that much so I can’t say that I love or hate it, but I didn’t notice an immediate difference. I have puffy under eyes in the morning and thought that this might help but I didn’t notice a huge difference. Maybe with more use I will notice a greater difference.
Nip+Fab Glycolic Fix Night Pads
I was quite excited by this, they originally were quite expensive but were on offer so I gave them a go. The have a very strong citrus smell which personally I like, but if you don’t you really will not like these. The product says to use on face and chest. I have quite a sensitive chest and reacts and breaks out so easily. But I thought that this product might help. I didn’t. The next I had actual pimples not just texture there so, I wouldn’t recommend on the chest. However on my face I actually liked it. It made my skin look better, I can’t really describe how but I would say that for the face it’s good. However if your face is sensitive I would be really cautious.
So that was our little shopping trip, thank you for reading.
